Raymond Desmarteau has over 30 years of radio under his belt. After a fulfilling carer as a singer songwriter, he took to radio from Montreal (CIEL-MF, Radio Classique Montréal, Télé-Québec) to Vancouver with a stint in Toronto, both as Morning man for the CBC’s local French station.
He went on to Lahr Germany to host the morning show on CFN/RFC before becoming the French programme Director until the closing date of both Canadian bases in Germany, Lahr and Baden-Soellingen.
Back in Canada, he took on the challenge of being a “rover host” on Radio Canada International’s (RCI) short wave and satellite service before assuming the management of the partnership service with stations in the U.S, in Europe, In Africa and in Oceania – 60 in English, 160 in French -, providing them with Canadian stories in both official languages.
Until the RCI’s dismantle, he hosted the 2 hours long daily public affairs programme “TamTam Canada”.
As an author, he published a novel, “Des jardins de jachère” (Fallow Gardens) in 2014 and a collection of shortrstories, “Chroniques du bout de ma rue” (Chronicles form the end of my street) in 2019. A novel is due to be published en 2021, “La mémoire des saules” (The Willows’ memory).
